ANSWERS FOR THE CURIOUS

WHAT DOES A SALT ROUND CONSIST OF? WHAT’S THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT?

This is what makes Salt so special. Instead of lead, Salt rounds are filled with a combination of powdered chemical agents formulated to cause temporary distress without permanent harm. Among the active ingredients is oleoresin capsicum, naturally derived from ghost peppers.

WILL THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN SALT HARM ME OR MY FAMILY IF IT IS ACCIDENTALLY USED?

When we set out to build a safe gun, stopping an intruder while not adding any danger to your family in case of an accidental shooting was our number one design goal. So we created a Salt round to cause only temporary effects such as blindness and lung constriction. In addition to these main effects, any part of the skin that comes in contact with the active ingredient in Salt will experience an intense burning sensation. Each of these effects can last up to 50 minutes, depending on exposure. So while these symptoms are temporarily crippling, no one in your family, including your children, is in danger from oleoresin capsicum or other ingredients used in the Salt system.

ONCE THE ROUNDS EXPLODE, HOW LARGE OF SPACE DOES IT COVER?

Once a round explodes, it creates a 4-5' cloud of chemical compounds making it effective even if you miss your target. The chemical compounds are designed to hang in the air where they are easily inhaled to affect the lungs, can react with the moisture of the eyes, or adhere to the oils present on skin.

DO SALT ROUNDS EXPIRE?

Because SALT rounds are built using some naturally derived chemicals, they typically begin to lose potency 3-4 years after the date of purchase. We recommend replacing the rounds every 3-4 years to ensure that you have the most effective ingredients possible.
